2nd Year Still Dinosaur Cake but with Lego

Following my 6-year-old-to-be boy's wish, looks like I needed to continue on the dinosaur path but maybe came up with different ideas and tried not to duplicate the cake from last year. As he grows more interests in Lego, adding some “edible” Lego blocks plus Lego dinosaurs to the cake seems like a good idea. Btw a two tier cake sounds more representable for the birthday party.

In case the case forms a dome in the middle, my husband’s new technique to wrap the cake pan (side walls) with foil-wrapped wet paper towel. Look how pretty it is now no bulging at all.

Cut it half and paste with berry jam. Add the mascarpone based icing with strawberries and blue berries. This is the Chantilly cake we like the most from Whole Foods Market. According to our guests, this flavor is even better!

Second layer (6x3 inch) is on top of 1.5 size of 8 inch cake. Just enough for a 30 people party!

Then we started decorating by putting on Pirouette cookies to make a fortress.

We had the Lego blocks made the night before by using Candy Melt and Wilton melting pot because they need to be hardened in the freezer. The Lego mold is soft and easy for little kids to manipulate.

This is our practice cake from two weeks ago just to show how much room it takes. We had a second shelf gone until now just to remind ourselves not to overcrowd the space.

Cake completion! Now we are very careful moving it back to the fridge.

I accidentally came across these Lego glasses on Amazon. Made a rule for every kid to wear so they can eat the cake hahaha~
