2023 Adventure - Austin TX New/Popular Parks

I'd heard about these popular downtown parks in recent two years. Why it took so long to visit now? Because Mick didn't want to deal with downtown traffic, my weekend proposal had been rejected. Now I was determined to go anyways. My boys were more than happy to follow Mommy for fun. I was going to drive anyways and Mick was allowed to tag along to the second park and the following ones after he did his homework about parking and the park attractions. Try to arrive downtown parks by 10am and in our experiences, less crowd makes everything easier and enjoyable!

  • Waterloo Park

    500 E 12th St, Austin, TX 78701

It’s a drizzling day and downtown city view looked just so peaceful. We parked in the capital visitor parking lot (weekend for free) and walked across the street to the park in like two minutes. Not a big playground to explore but the stairs/ramps and bridges are good enough for young kids to run around for excitements.

  • Pease District Park

1100 Kingsbury St, Austin, TX 78703

The Treehouse Observation Pod is impressive. Mick and I lay down on the net while boys were rolling for fun. Snack time made it even more wonderful cuz we were like hanging in the air. The playground equipment was made and shipped from Germany no wonder they look very robust and sturdy. Loved that little Volkswagen mobile coffee shop on the way to cheer us up for beginning the trail walk. Walking a moderate slope along the Shoal Creek was pleasant though it’s also possibly walking to the streets by accident.

  • Alliance Children's Garden

1000 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX 78704

The best park we all agreed on. All sorts of playground equipment were really satisfying for kids. City view from the top of the hill was spectacular! Big fields too for soccer or kites chasing. The best park package too cuz Terry Black’s BBQ is just walking distance across the street. No need to worry about the lines because we ate before noon. Stick to “one hour earlier for downtown everything“ and you are fine.

  • Mueller Lake Park

4550 Mueller Blvd, Austin, TX 78723

This is a scenery park around the lake and next to a movie theater/shopping area. Began with a small playground passing Thinkery and a long walk to Northwest Greenway a big one. Between these two playgrounds, we walked the trail around the lake and the sidewalk along the apartment housing where one of our friends used to live. Nice to come back to see the new developments and a yummy ramen restaurant Marufuku too!
